AI recording assurance review | Impending Tech

AI is already in your service. Nobody can say where.

Foster carers write daily logs at home, and some now use consumer AI to help. Social workers do the same at their desks. The authority is the data controller either way, so the liability sits with you whether or not anyone has written it down.

“Most authorities adopted AI faster than they updated the policies that govern it. That is not a criticism of anybody. The tools arrived quickly.”

Ofsted’s guidance on AI is live, and inspection is where the question gets asked. Almost no recording policy in the country mentions AI at all.

AI recording assurance review

Four weeks. We find out how AI is really being used across your children’s services, what your policies and your DPIA actually cover, and where that leaves you at inspection.

An inventory of the AI in use

Across children’s services, including what carers are doing on their own devices.

Your position against Ofsted’s guidance

Taken limb by limb, saying which parts you meet and which you do not.

A review of your DPIA

For AI-assisted recording, with a written addendum covering what it does not reach.

An AI recording policy you can adopt

Covering social workers and foster carers.

A guidance sheet for foster carers

One page, written to be handed out.

A four-page summary

For your leadership team or corporate parenting board.

The DPIA work is advisory, so your own data protection officer still signs it off. And we assess you against Ofsted’s published guidance rather than certifying anything, because nobody is Ofsted-endorsed.

Four weeks, with a mid-point call so nothing arrives cold

What we need from you: a named contact, your existing documents, half an hour each with six to eight people, and your agreement that we can ask foster carers directly.

01

We read what you have

Recording policy, DPIA, AI contracts, foster carer handbook.

02

Interviews

Social workers, a team manager, your DPO, and foster carers directly.

03

Drafting

With a short mid-point call, so nothing in the findings is a surprise.

04

The pack

Delivered and talked through with whoever needs to hear it.

What it costs

Fixed prices, excluding VAT, invoiced on delivery. If the work runs longer than we planned, that is our problem and not your budget’s.

WORKFORCE TRAINING FOLLOWS A REVIEW
£6,500
4 STAFF SESSIONS · 3 CARER SESSIONS

Half a day each for social workers and team managers, on what AI can be trusted with in case recording. Ninety minutes online in the evening for foster carers, run by a foster carer. Both tailored to what your review found.

Training follows a review. We quote it once the findings are written, because before that we would be guessing at what your workforce needs, and we do not review an authority we have trained in the last twelve months. Single sessions, or more than the package covers, are quoted the same way.

Tim Jackson and Dr Geoff Richards

Impending Tech builds AI systems for organisations that cannot put their data in a public cloud. Most of the work is the assurance around those systems rather than the models themselves: data protection impact assessments, audit trails that hold up when somebody checks them, and the evidence an inspector will actually accept. The people who sell you this are the people who do it.

Tim has taken other organisations through their ISO certification and led AI implementation programmes, so he has spent time on the side being assessed rather than only the side doing the assessing. He knows which evidence holds when somebody actually asks for it.

Geoff builds the systems and works in identity. He wrote and delivered a course for academic staff on using AI safely and well, which is the same problem this review looks at, one rung further up the education system.

Geoff is a foster carer. That is why this review covers what happens in carers’ homes and not only what happens in your offices, and why he does those interviews himself.

For the past year the work has been almost entirely in children’s social care. The standards, timescales and retention periods we work to are cited to the regulations they come from.

We sell a product in this market, so we say so first.

We also build Chrysalis AI, a private AI appliance. A review has to be able to conclude that your arrangements are adequate, or it is not assurance.

What Chrysalis AI is
THE RULES WE HOLD OURSELVES TO
No Chrysalis product appears in a findings pack, as a recommendation, an appendix or a logo.
A review can conclude your arrangements are adequate. That is a real possible outcome, not a courtesy.
We do not review an authority we have trained in the last twelve months.
The DPIA work is advisory. Your own data protection officer still signs it off.

Find out what your service is actually running.

Tell us what you already know about AI use across your service, and we will tell you whether a review would find anything you do not have already.
