Microsoft 365 audits for MSPs | Impending Tech

Your clients are overpaying Microsoft and you both know it.

You see the storage warnings. Fixing them is not your core business. It is ours, and we do not sell IT support, so we are not competing with you. Refer the work, or put your own name on it and keep the margin.

WE DO NOT SELL IT SUPPORT

Refer it, or put your own name on it

Same work underneath. The difference is whose logo is on the report and who the client pays.

01 · YOU REFER, WE DELIVER THE SIMPLE ONE

You introduce us, we quote the client directly, and you take a referral fee. We stay in our lane: the report covers licensing and storage, and it does not comment on the managed service around it.

Who the client pays US
What you get A REFERRAL FEE
02 · WHITE-LABEL IT AS YOURS MORE MARGIN

We deliver the audit to you, under your brand, and you set the price to the client. You keep the relationship and the margin. We never contact the client directly unless you ask us to join a call.

Who the client pays YOU
What you get YOUR OWN MARGIN
The first client audit you send us is free. You get the report, the client gets the saving, and you decide afterwards whether the arrangement is worth repeating.

The work your clients keep deferring

Most of what a client is wasting is licences nobody reassigned, not storage. Storage is the second finding, and it is the one almost nothing else reports properly: SharePoint keeps up to 500 versions of every file by default, and Microsoft puts the saving from fixing that at 96 per cent of version storage.

Seats paid for against seats anyone has signed into, including the ones still assigned to people who have left. This is usually the bigger number.

Version history, abandoned sites and the recycle bins nobody empties, sized per library so you can see which one actually matters.

A written recommendation with the retention settings named. Changing the tenant setting only affects new libraries, so trimming what already exists is a separate job, and trimmed versions do not go to the recycle bin.

We report and recommend. Changing retention settings on a live tenant stays with whoever holds the admin credentials, which on your clients is usually you.

What we quote a client directly

These are the prices when you refer and we invoice the client. White-label the work and you set the price yourself, so this is only the floor you are building your margin on.

FULL STORAGE AUDIT THE USUAL PIECE

AUDIT AND CLEANUP WE DO THE WORK
£3,500 – £8,000
AUDIT PLUS REMEDIATION

The audit, then the changes made and verified, with a record of what was altered and when.

Three steps, and your client can stop after any of them

What we need from you: an introduction, and somebody who can read the tenant’s admin centre with us for half an hour.

01

You introduce us

Half an hour on a call, looking at the tenant with whoever administers it. No preparation needed.

02

The report

Quoted before we start, under our name or yours. What is being paid for, where the storage went, and what to change.

03

The changes, if they want them

Made and verified, with a record of what was altered. Or the report comes back to you and your team makes them.

If the check finds nothing worth chasing, we say so and there is no quote. We are not going to burn your client relationship selling them an audit they do not need.

Tim Jackson and Dr Geoff Richards

Impending Tech builds AI systems for organisations that cannot put their data in a public cloud. Most of the work is the assurance around those systems rather than the models themselves. The people who sell you this are the people who do it.

Tim has taken other organisations through their ISO certification and led AI implementation programmes, so he has spent time on the side being assessed rather than only the side doing the assessing. He knows which evidence holds when somebody actually asks for it.

Geoff builds the systems and works in identity. He wrote and delivered a course for academic staff on using AI safely and well.

Licensing and storage work is a fixed piece with an end date. We are not looking to take over anybody’s managed service, which is why an MSP can put us in front of a client without worrying.

Quoted before we start, invoiced on delivery. If the work runs longer than we planned, that is our problem and not your budget’s.

Tell us what you already know, and we will tell you whether we would find anything.

Either sector, or neither. If the answer is that you do not need us yet, that is a fine answer and it costs you one email.
